PLU has many lives and will continue to bring People Like Us together to celebrate our best selves through heavy rhythms, angular throbbing and literal dance floor moments in an ever-changing fantasyland conjured by maniacs, enthusiasts and freaks.

PLU has always been more than just a party, and with that liberating thought in mind, PLU is now issuing solid musical moments of its own with music that is influenced by and directly taken from the party soundtrack.

PLU is gnarly rhythms, dark shivery moments, twisted up discoid experiments and raw electronic funks all designed, not just for dance floor reverence but also for deep listening and all those other ways People Like Us engage with heavy music that have a strong disregard for tempo fascism and that zeitgeisty push.

PLU’s first release is ‘Gemini’ by People Like Us family Cupro. Cupro is the electronic music project of Luke Nickel, a canadian multidisciplinary artist living in Bristol, UK. Luke also makes experimental instrumental music, designs impossible virtual roller coasters, draws rocks, and is learning to tattoo.

Cupro has given us a classic slice of heavily arpeggiated systems-driven kosmiche techno, harking back to göttsching and cluster as well as hallucinatory composers like steve reich.
Building on simple lines, ‘Gemini’ layers chiming harps, soft precise drums and almost latin percussion alongside cellos and deep sonar emissions to create an ever evolving driving soundscape made for this revelatory middle of the floor moment we all love to have. PLU have chosen to highlight certain aspects of the original and to delve further into the psychedelic, and have served 3 version excursions of varying tempos and intensity: GNARLY & CRUNCHY as well as a horizontally-minded deep excursion dedicated to Bristol’s very own Strange Brew.
